Grandparents Day: A Heart Full of Grands and Memories
Ah, grandparents—the unsung heroes of childhood, the ones who spoil you, tell the best stories, and sneak you treats when your parents aren’t looking. My kids? Well, they’ve hit the grandparent jackpot with not only grandparents but great-grandparents galore. It’s like a love-filled buffet, with all the extra hugs, advice, and sugar a kid could ever need!
Starting at the top, we have Granny (sometimes Big Granny when we're feeling fancy—though it's a "great" kind of big, not a size thing!). Her house is like a time capsule of Thanksgiving and Christmas mornings, packed with smells of pie, laughter, and just the right amount of chaos.
Then there’s my Gramma Norita, who’s the queen of unforgettable Utah adventures. Train car stays and endless amounts of fun—she’s got it all wrapped up in memories that are as sweet as they are wild. Whenever I think of her, I think of those magical Utah summers filled with excitement and wonder.
Next is my mom, Honey. She’s basically the queen of family dinner nights. No one leaves her table hungry, and it’s where the best conversations (and probably a few minor debates) happen. It’s the glue that keeps everyone coming back for more.
Logan’s mom, Mimi and her husband, Pop are all about outdoor adventures—camping, swimming, and anything that makes you feel like you’re living in a summer movie. It’s the kind of thing where every memory smells like marshmallows and sunscreen.
Now, Papa J—he’s always ready for dinner and is constantly there for the kids. He’s like that solid rock who’s always up for a good meal and even better company.
Granddaddy and GIGI Tim ans Suzanne? Well, they bring the country fun, with four-wheelers, holidays spent outdoors, and a whole lot of muddy, happy memories. Bonus points because *Mamaw(Priscilla) lives next door, so it’s basically a grandparent compound of joy.
Then there’s my dad, Grandpa Steve. He’s the one who fills our hearts with Christmas morning memories. There’s something magical about waking up, sharing those early hours together, and then settling into the best Christmas morning dinners that fill both our bellies and our souls.
And for my older girls, they’ve got Nana Donna, their dad’s mom, who has the biggest heart and is the sweetest soul. She’s the kind of grandma who makes you feel special just by being around her.
Presley, meanwhile, is about to live the dream with her Grandparent Week at school. Yep, four days of grandparents coming for lunch—she’s practically a celebrity in the cafeteria at this point. Honestly, they should just rename it "Presley’s Grandparent Extravaganza."
So here’s to the grandparents—whether you’re a Honey, Gramma, Mimi, Big Granny, Papa J, or something else entirely—you make our lives so much better. And hey, what fun or unique names do your grandparents go by? Let’s celebrate all the special names and the people behind them. 🎉👵🧓 #GrandparentsDay #GratefulForGrands #FamilyTraditions #SoManyGrands
